Costa Rican Exchange Program

Several middle school students and their families recently hosted exchange students from Costa Rica. The students attended classes with their host students and participated in several activities. The Costa Rican students also gave presentations about their school and their culture to students in Spanish classes. They also put on this colorful dance performance!

OPR Playground Grows

Recently, shiny new climbing apparatus, slides and swings were installed in our front playground after much research done by the OPR Playground Committee. This equipment was paid for through PAC fundraising and, in particular, from proceeds of our annual Staff Basketball Game held each spring. This is one step in the continual process of making improvements in our playgrounds so that students will enjoy their recess time even more. We are also hoping that families will also be able to utilize this equipment on evenings or weekends when the weather is nice. Perhaps, a picnic lunch will lead to some wonderful adventures in our new playground! Many thanks to the OPR PAC for this great addition!

WHS Drama Club Lends Their Talent

Members of the Walpole High School Drama Club modeled ―good choices for elementary students through improvisational skits this fall. Justin Connolly, Lorna D‘Sa, John Griffin, and Michael Griffin have performed anti-bullying skits for our students. Bus, playground, and classroom scenarios were acted out by the high school students. At first, elementary students identified the disruptive, disrespectful behavior and potential targets and bullies in the skit. Then the scene was replayed with the advice from the elementary students to calm down, walk away, and report the hurtful behavior or language to the nearest adult or teacher. Administrators emphasized reporting - not supporting a bully. Awareness about goo social choices continues to be revisited throughout the year in our schools.
